Attainable Dreams

Updated: Jul 16, 2020

My name is Natasha Robertson (@natasharobertsonart on Instagram) and I am a 25 year old

illustrator and designer from New Zealand.

My journey started when I was preparing to move overseas with my husband in August 2019.

We were given an old-generation iPad to take with us. Once we arrived in the UK, I had a LOT of free time.

I have always been creative and very interested in art and design, however I went to university and trained as a nurse. During this initial time overseas, however, I stumbled across digital art for the first time. It captivated me.

I was given the opportunity during the COVID-19 lockdown in April 2020 to practice and refine my illustration and design skills. I also decided to invest in an iPad Pro 11” and Apple Pencil 2 at this time, which was instrumental in starting my business.

After that purchase, I started to get commission requests. Gradually, my small business has

grown and I am now taking on bigger projects and expanding my services.

As I enter my third month of working on my business, I am enjoying the freedom that comes with owning and operating my own business.

My advice for aspiring creatives and entrepreneurs is to START NOW. If you don’t start, you

have nothing to grow from and work with.

Sometimes we can fall into the trap of thinking our business has to be perfect from the start. This is untrue, and this will hold you back from starting.

Make that Instagram page, be brave and share your work with your family and friends. Dream big. Write down your dreams and goals and work out attainable ways to get there.
