Hi there!
My name is Tia. It is so nice to meet you! ^_^
I was invited by Kyra to share a little bit of motivation with you guys and I was elated! I am very honored for the opportunity and I do hope you are encouraged by this post. In today’s post, I want to share with you how I embarked on my personal development journey and how my life has changed since then. It started around the age of 17 for me when I was about
to graduate college (I am currently 25). I was about to do the very last set of CAPE exams and found myself asking, “what’s next?”. The clear choice was university, of course, but to study what? The courses I took at the cape level did not leave much room for me to divert. It was either psychology, law, or business. None of which, at the time, I was interested in studying. So, what did I do? I took 2 gap years and pursued more CAPE course but in the sciences. That… did not go very well, lol. Nonetheless, I made it to university and enrolled in a business degree.
Now, I am trying to not bore you with all the details but during that 2-year break, I learnt so
much about myself and what it means to be personally developing. Before this time, I honestly never knew what a goal was (well clearly, I did but it did not mean much to me) nor did I know what a vision board was. Here is a shocker for you, I never used to watch YouTube before this time either! I had no productivity content that I was engaging with whatsoever. I set some goals for myself for the very first time and got into the habit of tracking my progress. I made myself a virtual vision board on Pinterest and started planning. My very first set of goals were to find a way to finance my university education and take my science CAPE courses privately.
I did all of that, not in the smoothest of ways but I did it. I am now only a month away from
being done with university altogether. I will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management and Management Studies. Now, why did I share this story with you? Because in those two years, I have learnt so much that has shaped me into who I am today and has led me to be doing what I do right now. I was never encouraged to set goals and aim high. I was always encouraged to play it safe and take the traditional route. But having had that awakening, it birthed in me a passion for productivity and a deep desire to motivate and encourage others to make the most of their God-given time. This passion led me down the path to becoming a content creator and online business owner. I also recommitted my life to the Lord and could never have been happier. When everyone was taking the traditional and safe route (or taking no route at all), I was feeling confused and fearful because I did not know what I wanted but I knew it was not the safe life that everyone else was pursuing. I challenged myself to look fear in the face and do it anyway. I am still on my journey as I don’t think it ends unless I give up or die but I am glad to have embarked on it.
So, my final remarks, encouragement, two cents, whatever you would like to call it is this:
Your God-given time is super valuable, do not waste it.
Feel the fear and do it anyway.
Fulfill your God-given purpose. Find out what you are truly gifted at, what you are passionate about and give it your all.
Document your journey so that you can share it one day and bless someone else’s heart.
And that is all that I am sharing with you today. I hope you found it encouraging and that it helps you in some way. Do not forget to use your God-given time wisely.
Blessings,
Tia
