Who knew you could feel like your at the beach while in Vermont?
Maybe it will be your next stop over summer vacation. The town forms on the edge of the beautiful Lake Champlain. Do you love the water but hate the sand, this is the perfect location. No matter which way you get there the beauty is sure to find you. The view of greenery covered mountain and authentic craftiness is in the air all around you. Burlington is sure to get your creative juices flowing.
Take a second and relax on one of the many swings along the Waterfront Park. Watch the boats bob in the water as the wind blows through your hair. Everything you could want is in easy walking distance to the park. If you are feeling adventurous rent a bike around the blocks. You will find that there are more bike racks than parking lots. The simplicity yet excitement throughout the town will keep you relaxed for days. Whether you are a fashionista or not, you will want to wonder in the quaint stores just for a peak. The colors of the surroundings alone will continue to add to the beach feel of the town. As you make your way off the waterfront make sure to stop and take a look inside "April Cornell".You cant miss the multi-pastel colored building, unless of course you stop and get some of the amazing creamy ice cream from Ice Cream Bob's. Restaurants are all around, you are sure to have your selection. Are you in the mood for a maple crepe or maybe a simple jumbo hot dog, you choose. Burlington in my mind is similar to a small town city. The perfect blend for both a city and country lover. you can find things from school jerseys to street performers at Church Street Marketplace. It is only about a 10 minute walk from the water and is definitely worth it. All along the walk you can find unique stores and cafes around every block. Whatever you need is there all in walking distance. Are you into the quirky things about a destination? Well, don't worry Vermont does not disappoint in the least. You can travel a minutes out of town to Shelburne and visit the World's Tallest Filling Cabinet Tower. It might not be the prettiest thing, but it sure is unique and you wont see it anywhere else. Along the way take a tour through the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, it is fun for all. Cant find a picture spot well upon entrance you can take a picture with everybody's best friend a giant teddy bear. Try and stop to see the huge jack made from fire hydrants it is truly an amazing creation. Some things you just have to see to believe. Want some memorabilia to remember this Vermonter journey? The Vermont Country Store has everything Vermont you could imagine. Take a postcard, sweatshirt, handmade cutting board, maybe even some authentic maple syrup for the road. Don't be bashful there is so much fun to be had and so much beauty to remember. Do it the Vermont way, clean and crafty. Be creative and remember to stop and smell the maple.
